Roving Rods at Quartzsite 2008

I'm here to tell you we do not sit around the desert watching the cautus grow. This is a great example. The Roving Rods(fishermens group we belong to)held a brisket/tri tip BBQ potluck along with entertainment. They played from 2:00 till 5:00 only stopping to eat.

Bommerville, Quartzsite

This is what it looks like on our morning walks. We all get going then you just fall in with whoever your talking to or has your pace, mine is very slow. I walk 3 miles each day, Jim walks 4-5. Go Jim Go!

And we play games in the evenings. We have Dianne and Frank Gruelle along with Jenny and Dan Sheppard.

This is a list of activites for the first week of Boomerville. We also have a 9:30 walk each morning, an 11:00 craft gathering and 4:00 announcements/happy hour each day. Ah the fun just never ends.

My 61st Birthday

Jim made a wonderful spaghetti dinner for me along with coconut cream pie and invited good friends Dianne and Frank Gruelle to share this with us.

Yuma Snowbirds

We were lucky enough to be in Yuma for the annual Lake Chelan/Manson potluck. This was held at Araby Acres. There were six couples from Vista Del Lago.











This was a great get together with our Vista Del Lago neighbors who have a beautiful home in the foothills of Yuma. They invitited us along with Linette, Dallas and Jim and Gloria for a fantastic homemade dinner. So very delicious!!!!

Yeah! More Pickleball

This was great. We found the Armory in Yuma has four pickleball courts. It costs one dollar a day. Pickleball is played 9:30 to 12:30 M-T. There is a sign up board, so you just rotate through. This game is so fun.

Gunslingers at the Yuma Prison

Opps! Well I don't know if he would look any better right side up. Every year the Old Historic Yuma Prison has Gunslingers Day. It's an all day event with lots of food and plenty of entertainment. Here are some of the contestants for the saloon girls.
Different touring groups put on short skits, each lasting 5-10 minutes. Here's one of the bad guys.

More Yuma foothill property

This is our Boomer friends Jenny and Dans'new casita on their property in the foothills. And yes thats our 5th wheel parked on the right. They invited us to stay awhile and we're having a great time. Games, walking, biking, sightseeing. What a life! This piece of property in the foothills belongs to another friend of ours. They are just getting started. We'll just have to come back another year and get the after picture. OK Ron and Carol?

What other kind of life style can bring friends and neighbors together like being a snowbird. This is Carol and Harvey who we are only a few blocks away from here in the foothills of Yuma. They are are neighbors in Manson Wa.

On Tuesdays there is a Farmers Market in Old Downtown

The Peanut Patch in Yuma AZ

On Tues. and Fri. at 10:00AM there is a tour. The store had homemade fudge, yum at least 30 different kind. Along with fresh peanut butter of course plus much much more. Come out and take a look.
We had a lesson on the peanut by the owner. So for everyone who wants to know how peanuts are grown and harvested this should be a must in Yuma.

Yuma Lakes RV Resort

There really is a lake at the entrance to this campground. Thats me on the dock not in the kyak. The park is a private membership which is part of our membership in Resort Parks International. We think this park has the tastiest meals at the very lowest prices anywhere.

On the other side of this lake is BLM land where one can dry camp. Alot of members do their week out there and walk over for the amenities.
Speaking of tasty food. Jim and Dan Sheppard could hardly stop for a picture. It was steak night for $6.99. What more can we want!

Algodones Mexico

These are the customers shopping for glasses at the Algodones Optical Store. We had a very good exam and are quite happy with our new glasses. This is the exit to enter back into the US. Sometimes it can take hours to cross back. But today we are happy to report it only took 20 min. at 11:00 AM.

This is the entrance into Mexico. There is a hugh parking lot outside the border and most people walk through.

Mitry Lake AZ

The surrounding area in Yuma is full of crops including Date farms. Great place to stop if in need of a date shake. YUM!
Here is something we do so very well. EAT! Best burgers in town can be had at The Brown Bag.
Oh and the side view is something to behold. Thanks Laurie!

Christmas at Mitry Lake AZ

Our Boomer friend Jerry Hurley took Jim in his jeep to the top of the hill overlooking the Lake Mitry area. The picture doesn't show the shrubs as orange as they are. It is very pretty here.
Here we are all decked out for our Christmas dinner. We had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, yam, stuffing, etc, etc, way too much to eat. But we sure tried.
Unfortunately it was a bit windy, so 2 rigs pulled up to ours to form a wind break. It work very well, we were able to enjoy our planned holiday meal.
