BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

Bryce Canyon National Park

I could post pictures all day long on Bryce Canyon. I don't think there is a more breathtakingly scenic place. We were so happy this visit to be able to do some hiking. Meaning the weather of course. Bryce Canyon is an unpredictable place. Last time we were here we only had half a day before it snowed on us. This time we had 2 days and left the night before snowfall. Lucky timing this time.

Hwy 14

The weather changed with just a little elevation in altitude. It was a beautiful drive to Bryce Canyon along Hwy 14.

St. George, UT

We stayed a week in St. George UT as Jim played in a pickleball tournament with Bill Abbott. We had never been there before and must say it is a beautiful area. Nice town. The second day we were there the Ironman Race was held there which was very exciting. The event
starts at 7:00am goes to midnight. It begins with a 2.4 mi swim, a 112 mi bike ride and ends with a 26.2 mi run. It ran a block from where we were staying so we walked down to see it. We thought it so interesting we went downtown to the finish line at 9:30pm got so exciting watching them come over the finish line we stayed until the last person came in at 11:56! Unfortunately NONE of us had our cameras. Drat! When will I see an Ironman again.
Bill and Jim won a silver in the mens doubles. Way to go guys!

We had a great week with Sue and Bill. They showed us the area, we took bike rides on a terrific path, attended 2 cooking classes, had enjoyable happy hours, met several other RVer's. But I just kept forgetting my camera. Oh well.

ZION

It has been 10 years since we last visited Zion. Where does the time go. We just felt like we had to see it again. When people ask us where our favorite place is we always say we don't have a favorite as there are too many beautiful and interesting places to see. But we always say if you haven't seen the National Parks in Southern Utah don't miss them. Spectacular is our feeling.

We were so suprised how many people are camping so early in May. Alot of rental campers. The main campground was full, thank goodness they keep a first come first serve. Good thing we came early as it was full by afternoon. The weather was perfect and I am thrilled to be able to walk the easy hikes this year.

The river is running so fast this spring they had to close the Narrows trail and are keeping an eye on the water level for any potential flooding.

Glen Canyon Dam

Of course one must not miss the Glen Canyon Dam. This part of the country is full of such spectacular sights.

Grand Canyon National Park

After stopping for fuel on Hwy 89 we were right across the street from the road to the east entrance to the Grand Canyon. We hadn't really planned on stopping as we had visited there several years ago. Jim said "Ya know I want to see it again" so off we went!

It's just spectacular! No other words are needed.

Walnut Creek Nat'l Monument

We love National Parks and Monuments. Near Flagstaff we stopped at Walnut Creek Nat'l Monument. The Island trail with 256 steps
descends into the canyon and circles the cliff dwellings. Again this is well worth the walk, it's paved so most people can do it if they are able to handle the stairs.

May Day Street Fair

Moving north along Hwy 89 we then came across a Celebration Day in Pine AZ. It's so easy with our camper to just pull over and stop, had to stop to see the fun.
