After leaving Abilene on our way to Kansas City we were traveling down Hwy 177 saw this area of campgrounds along the Council Grove Lake(Reservoir)it was so pretty we just had to pull up to spend the night. What a beautiful park! Hugh campsites, water and elec. Great views. It doesn't get better than this.

We stopped in Abilene to visit the Eisenhower Museum. Arrived about 2:00 so went straight there looked at the Library and boyhood home, then visited the museum until closing at 4:45. We went to the towns fairground to spend the night. We revisited the Museum in the morning to finish up reading reading reading the rest of the material. We thoroughly enjoyed this museum.

This is the railroad car that Eisenhower campaigned on for his run for Presidency in 1952. Jim (at age 7)remembers him coming to Wenatchee and watching him give a speech from the back of the train.

The six of us spent 3 days in Estes Park at Bob and Sara's condo. They were nice enough to drive us into the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park for exploring. Pictured Diane, Jim, Sara, Bob, and Chris and Ken.

There was snow on the ground at the top of the highest peak but just a lovely sunny day.
Hot Springs State Park is a nice park to stop for the day. We took a walk along the boardwalk over the hot springs by the two waterworks parks and the public Bath House.

We didn't want to miss any of the sights so we went to the Dinosaur Museum
We headed south going through the Wind Canyon. Very beautiful. We spent the night at one of the campgrounds along the river. Unfortunately it was so windy we couldn't sit outside. We did take a walk and thought I'd have to put rocks in my(Diane)pockets to keep from blowing away.
This is definately a must see. The Buffalo Bill Historical Center. It took us two days.
Since I have never seen a caribou , had to take this picture. Facinating horns right in the middle of his forehead.
Hope to catch up alittle on the blog. Sometimes we do not have air reception. I picked a few of the Yellowstone pictures. I don't think anyone would care to view all 250.
Old Faithful went off 5 minutes after we arrived. Great timing. We then took a tour of the Lodge which was very interesting. Very small rooms with most having bathrooms down the hall. Lots of character though.
