The Alabama Hills

This is a beautiful area just a short few miles out of Lone Pine. Other than just wonderful scenery it's claim to fame is all the movies that were made here. Many many Westerns were made here, starting in the 1920's. a lot of stars of silent film we had never heard of. When we names like Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and Hopalong Cassidy, John Wayne came up we now could relate. Gunga Din was also made here.
We had a wonderful afternoon exploring the area with Kathy and Mark.

Boomers at Diaz Lake Ca

Kathy and Mark are Boomers we met a couple of years ago at Sidewinder RD in AZ. They were also traveling along HWY 395 coming a day later. What fun. We also learned and met Guy Gipson who had been camping there a week(sorry didn't get Guy's picture). That evening we had a nice Happy Hour.
Being a Boomer is great! As we were entering the campground Tom and Kay introduce themselves as Boomers and invite us to come visit after setting up. Great! New friends

Great Grandparents

I know no one will believe we are old enough, but yes we are proud new GREAT Grandparents! Rayne Angle Bennett was born 4-1-09 6lb 8oz 19inches

Visiting friends

We had a great time stopping in Big River to visit good friends Charles and Nancy for the weekend. We then pressed westward stopping in Palm Springs where we always get to play pickleball. I then left Jim to practice practice while I met my long time friend Bibi at her cabin in Big Bear for a 4 day girls weekend. It was so relaxing it took me 2 days to get with it again.

Fun Week in Phoenix AZ

We had such a great week visiting. We obviously couldn't get enough pictures of our granddaughter. I'd post the hundred others but maybe my friends might stop checking my blog.

A Grandkid Fix in AZ

It's so great to be on wheels so when an opportunity arises you can be there. Our son-in-law Johnny was coming to Phoenix on work and bringing Jim's daughter Jill and our granddaughter Lauren for a week. What could be better. The weather was great, we took a dip everyday while enjoying some sightseeing.

New Boomers and Texas

The group in Abbeville La recruited Bill and Cheryl for the Boomers and we were lucky enough to be able to meet up with them in Fredericksburg TX. We had a great (but cold) day touring Johnson's boyhood home and "The Texas White House".
Here we are doing what we do best. Dinner in the Walmart parking lot!

Austin Texas

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Austin. We stayed at the Elks which is only a few miles from downtown. We would have loved to ride our bikes around town as there are some nice trails. But unforturnately the weather took a turn for the worst. It was about 40 degrees and raining! Burr.............. But we did enjoy the Lyndon B. Johnson Library, the State Capital Building, and the The Texas History Museum.

Texas

Wow didn't think I'd ever catch up on my blog. Picasa was giving me problems. And we then spent a week in Phoenix with Jim's daughter , granddaughter and son-in-law. Busy week.
After leaving Abbeville we made an overnight stay at the Livingston Escapees Park. Just doesn't feel right to go through Texas and not stop.
We then stopped at The Bush Library in College Station. Our aim is to visit all the Presidential Libraries.
On next to Austin and the Johnson Library. To date this is the only free Library we have visited.
