George Washingtion Carver

We spent several hours here at the George Washington Carver museum. Very very interesting. He was born a slave during the Civil War.
After the death of his mother when he was alittle over a year old he and his brother were raised by their owners in their home. At an early age he had a quest for knowledge. He was taught all practical matters by his owners. Including sewing and knitting which he did throughout his life. He sought an education having to move to several areas to pursue this, ending with a Bachelor and Master degree in Agriculture plus achieving many awards throughout his life.
Interesting as it seems he did not invent peanut butter although he discovered over 300 uses for peanuts and its by products. He began his peanut work aimed at freeing African American farmers and the South from the tyranny of king cotton. Carver became a symbol of interracial understanding. He gave a lifelong Service to Humanity.
