I know this looks like we are driving on but we are backing off. We were the last two
to board and the first to get off
TILTING-Look at the foundation, rocks, and wood braced up.
This is Dwyer’s Fishing Premises one of the Historical sites in Tilting.
The fisherman’s couch was used the night before he was going out to fish. It was made purposely uncomfortable
because if he were in his soft comfy bed he would never get out at that of it at that ungodly hour to go out into
the cold!
The oldest stage in Tilting. A stage is a building where fisherman cleaned, salted and stored cod. They
where built over the water having a hole in the floor to toss the fish parts. Well not used for cod
anymore some are still in use today.
The Lane House- Oldest house in Tilting, over 100 yrs. Note the way it was added onto.
Tilting- So far my favorite. It’s like a step back in time.
Jim was out for a hike and came across the Caribou and the Silver Fox.
Turpin Trail- A hike Jim, Joyce and Larry did.
We were at the wharf one evening, actually at an art show when two men rowed in. They were out
practicing for the punting race coming up the following weekend. It’s a five mile race from Fogo
to Change Island and back. Rowing! The boat is called a punt. They gave Jim a ride(the one with baseball cap).
He also got to row and decided he would never be entering the race.
